SCULPTURE CORRAL

Commissioned Sculpture Corral Map by Kaiya Inouye of SidexSide Studio

The Sculpture Corral is an artist-led sculpture garden located within in a former horse corral at SAR. Among the sage and against a mountain slope, artists gather here to explore potential sites for gentle artwork interventions as a form of collaboration with the land.

SAR is located on the traditional territories of the syilx Okanagan First Nation, home to the Lower Similkameen Indian Band. The residency rests upon a vast cultural and biodiverse landscape, with which we encourage visiting artists to develop a respectful relationship. We ask that artists who place artworks in the Sculpture Corral:

1. Pack out what they pack in;

2. Give space to wild animals;

3. Do not dig into or remove anything from the ground; and

4. Ensure that all materials used for the Artwork are biodegradable and/or be used/sealed in such a manner that they will not leach into the soil or otherwise negatively affect the surrounding ecosystem.
