May 2023 AiR

I am a senior visual artist, former designer. I’ve been painting full time for over 25 years and drawing for over 50 years. My works are predominantly landscape based. The natural world provides endless inspiration and challenge. In particular, I paint large vistas and small intimate spaces. My goal is to encourage viewers to notice “ordinary scenes” painted in exciting techniques. Works are recognizable yet painterly. Based in Vancouver, BC, I also create courses, provide workshops and one-to-one mentoring. My collectors a based in North and Central America, and Europe.

I had the pleasure of being an artist participant in the new Similkameen Artist Residency in May, 2023. The building location is a lovely large log-style home, a former bed and breakfast. Situated near the Similkameen River, it is only a few miles from the nearest town, Keremeos, BC. Nestled between two mountain ranges, one is provided superb views and ample inspiration, especially for a landscape painter, such as myself. The accommodations are clean, bright and newly renovated. Each artist has their own studio. I was up every morning by 6am and down at my studio busily working and taking breaks to see the wonderful views from my studio doors. Most of all, the support from the on-site coordinator and management was outstanding! I highly recommend this residency to any artist, performer, writer or enthusiast. The facility, location and support will inspire you to create many great works. I created over 40 art pieces in one month! How’s that for inspiration?
