Justine Langille
June 2025
Justine Langille (they/them) is a queer/trans-femme artist based in Surrey, B.C whose work encompasses photography, drawing and foraging for natural materials and post-consumer waste. Their images and drawings explore transforming human-environmental relations and queer ecologies within the lands and waters on Turtle Island, also known as Canada today. Their current project NO SPOONS OUT HERE is supported by the Canada Council for the Arts.
My time at the SAR was an utter balm for my well being and my artistic practice. The tranquility of the valley provided vital rest, and the beautiful kitchen was an incredible venue for cooking great meals. This all enabled me to explore new drawing directions in a beautiful studio with a view of the mountains. Meeting other artists, collaborating on foraging and natural pigment projects, doing studio visits and making new friends was a total blessing.
