Our time at the Similkameen Artist Residency was truly an incredible opportunity and experience, and we are very thankful to those who made it possible. The residency provided a unique opportunity to rest and develop an artistic practice amidst a busy life, but equally or even more importantly, it provided an incredible community. The ability to have studio visits with other artists challenged both of us to really look into how we could further the depth and skills of our own artistic practices through seeing the work of others, and it also gave us the opportunity to have others provide insight into our own work. The wide variety of activities to do around the property or surrounding towns was also an incredible gift both individually and with other residents, providing the opportunity to create memories and long-lasting friendships. It was truly an incredible experience!
